Nick Stoneman: Working in the Spirit of Bishop Whipple

Nick Stoneman, Head of School at Shattuck-St. Mary’s, is inspired by Bishop Whipple’s foundational understanding of mission.

Expanding this vision in ways that Bishop Whipple couldn’t possibly have imagined, Shattuck-St. Mary’s is casting Bishop’s Whipple’s vision for mission into an international arena. While not traveling by horse and buggy, the school’s leadership and students are finding themselves on planes to faraway lands such as China, Malaysia and Saudi Arabia, taking Shattuck-St. Mary’s and the Episcopal Church in Minnesota into transnational experiences that will surely change the school and the entire church.

Shattuck-St. Mary’s school in Faribault is developing partnerships across the globe to launch new programs and campuses that will expand the Shattuck-St. Mary’s school community into a global network.

Shattuck-St. Mary’s is a college-preparatory boarding school founded in 1858 by the Rev. Dr. James Lloyd Breck and soon thereafter headed by Minnesota’s first Episcopal Bishop, the Rt. Rev. Henry Benjamin Whipple.
